Description

Description (Service)

A group run through Laurier Brantford in partnership with the Brantford Public Library. It is comprised of university student volunteers who are passionate about promoting literacy in the Brantford community

Homework Help

  • students in grades 3-8 are partnered with a Laurier student tutor for one session per week by appointment
  • sessions are 45 minutes to 1 hour in length depending on attention span
  • students can bring their homework or can do worksheets/activities with their tutor

Book Buddies

  • students in grades 2-6 are partnered with a Laurier buddy for one session per week by appointment 
  • sessions are 45 minutes to 1 hour in length depending on attention span
  • students will read and complete literacy activities with their buddies

Reading Club

  • students in grades 7-8 read and complete literacy activities with a small group of other students their age
  • One meeting weekly at a predetermined time

The programs are offered both online and in-person based out of the Brantford Public Library Main Branch
