Description

Description (Service)

Midwives are primary health care providers registered with the College of Midwives of Ontario specializing in obstetrical care for low-risk women

  • women can usually be accommodated at any point in their pregnancy
  • clients have access to prenatal tests and ultrasounds throughout pregnancy
  • all appointments are 30-45 minutes long for information sharing and decision making
  • client will know the midwife who will attend the birth and the choice of hospital or home birth is up to the client
  • post-birth care including home visits the first week, breastfeeding support for both mother and baby for an additional 6 weeks after delivery
