Description (Service)

A range of evidence-based services and programs offered to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families in a family-centered and flexible manner

The approach is collaborative and based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). The services vary across intensity, whether they are delivered individually or in a group, and whether they are directed to the child or the parent. Services provided both in-home and in-centre

Services include:

  • Ontario Autism Program - Foundational Family Services offers brief behaviour consultations, community resources, transition supports, social skills groups, parent and caregiver training and family events
  • Ontario Autism Program - Caregiver Mediated Early Years Programs (ESI-SCERTS, Social ABC's and Pivotal Response Treatment) offers caregiver training with young children ages 12 months to 48 months to learn new skills and meet individualized goals
  • Ontario Autism Program - Entry to School offers a six-month group-based program for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, up to 6 years old, who are entering school for the first time (starting kindergarten or grade one). The program will be focused on building school readiness skills and preparing them to enter school
  • Ontario Autism Program - Urgent Response Services offers children and youth experiencing new or worsening high-risk behaviours short-term services and supports to respond rapidly to the specific high-risk need to reduce the risk of harm to the child/youth, others, or property
  • Ontario Autism Program - Core Clinical Services offers Behaviour Services and Mental Health Services for families with their core clinical funding
    • behaviour services are collaborative and based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis. The services vary across intensity, whether they are delivered individually or in a group, and whether they are directed to the child or the parent
    • mental health services offer counselling or psychotherapy to children and youth experiencing mental health concerns like anxiety, emotional dysregulation, self-harm and other mental health issues. It can also help children, youth, and their families find solutions and make choices by exploring options, identifying strengths and needs, and promoting a variety of adaptive coping strategies
  • Behaviour Support Program - offers a behaviour service to children and youth with a developmental disability or delays in two or more domains
