Description (Service)
Friendship Centre promoting culture and traditions, supporting the Urban Indigenous community in Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk counties
Programs include:
Cultural Outreach Programs - facilitates cultural and traditional activities by promoting positive Indigenous identity and healthy relations while fostering connections and cultural understanding between the Friendship Centre and the broader community through Elders, land-based learning centres and Knowledge Keepers
Employment and Training Programs - helping Indigenous people gain education, experience and skills to achieve and maintain meaningful employment
Housing and Reaching Home Programs - supports Urban Indigenous children, youth, adults and families that are homeless and at risk of homelessness with longer-term housing solutions, shelter, support and preventative services
Justice Programs - provide culturally grounded support to Indigenous individuals and families who are involved with or at risk of becoming involved with the justice system. The team works to promote healing, reduce barriers and support positive outcomes through advocacy, referrals and culturally appropriate services
Life-Long Care and Seniors Programs - support for Elders, senior adults and caregivers by promoting health, wellness, dignity, independence and community connection. Includes nutritious meals, health and wellness activities, personal support and resource referrals
Healing and Wellness Programs - culturally grounded and holistic programs supporting the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of Indigenous individuals, families and community members through traditional teaching, land-based practices and supportive services
Youth Programs - designed to support the growth, well-being and cultural identity of children, youth and families by offering safe spaces, meaningful activities and wrap-around supports that empower young people to thrive
