Eligibility Union House is a voluntary program for youth, ages 16 and 17, who:
  • are enrolled in school or a vocational skills training program
  • are in need of a stable place to live
  • would benefit from assistance with life skills and/or interpersonal skill development
  • are at risk of long-term dependency on social assistance
  • are committed to participating in the Union House Program
Application

Referral sources for the program include but are not limited to family, friends, educators, health care providers, police, Probation and Parole, Children's Aid, other REACH programs, and other local service providers. Youth may also contact the program directly

  • phone to arrange an appointment.
  • tours of the house and information regarding the program are available and can be offered during daytime, evening and weekend hours
  • virtual tours are available upon request

Fees Room and board are applied according to income, in order to help cover food and operational costs. Financial assistance through Ontario Works may be available and will be determined on an individual basis. Youth Support Workers will assist youth in applying for funding as necessary

Description

Description (Service)

Provides a supportive living environment for transitional-age youth from the Haldimand and Norfolk area. Supports youth in developing the skills necessary for independent living or a return to the family home, and successful integration into the workforce

Program offers:

  • individual and group life skills training
  • individual program planning
  • supportive counselling
