Application If the property (or part of it) is classified as residential, farm, managed forest or conservation land, before applying to the Assessment Review Board (ARB) people must:
  • file a Request for Reconsideration (RFR) with the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) - call 1-866-296-3722 or visit https://www.mpac.ca
  • receive the RFR decision BEFORE filing an appeal with the ARB
  • file appeal with ARB before deadline, which is 90 days from the mailing date on the RFR decision; forms available on ARB Website
  • Languages English, French
    Fees Residential or farm assessment appeals - $132.50 for each roll number
    • other assessment appeals - $318 for each roll number

    Independent tribunal

    • hears appeals concerning property tax assessments and some property tax appeals in Ontario
    • makes decisions based on the Assessment Act and municipal legislation (the Municipal Act and the City of Toronto Act)
    • people may present their own case, retain a lawyer, or have an agent such as a friend or relative act on their behalf
